CRUISE SHIP REROUTES TO DELIVER FOOD AND AID AFTER HURRICANE DORIAN
After Hurricane Dorian devastated parts of the Bahamas, over 3,000 guests and staff on the Celebrity Equinox cruise ship came together to make food and care packages for survivors in the hardest hit areas. The ship rerouted from their last stop to deliver over 10,000 sandwiches that were made by staff and packed by guests, complete with comforting notes written by young children on the cruise.
The Celebrity Equinox left Fort Lauderdale, Florida last week to crisscross the Caribbean and was supposed to dock at the Bahamas’ capital of Nassau for the tail end of its excursion. But the ship was diverted Friday to Freeport on Grand Bahama Island, which was partially destroyed by the storm. Guests were compensated for missing the last port, but many said they were more than happy to help and wished they could do more for the people of the Bahamas.
