Hi and welcome to my personal blog!
Many of you may already know me as Melissa, the co-host of The Social and as a contributor on Your Morning, both airing on CTV. I am fortunate to have a large platform to share my thoughts on a range of issues and to interview newsmakers, celebrities and other interesting people doing very cool things. But believe it or not, I’ve got a few other interests, hobbies and activities I pursue outside of the television studio. If you follow me on Instagram, you already know I really enjoy health, fitness, self-care, travelling, hair and beauty, horses, spending time with my immediate and large extended family and generally being curious about people and the world around me.
Prior to hosting television shows, I was a news reporter and anchor, and am still highly engaged in local, national and world affairs. Sadly, there is a lot of pain and suffering happening around the globe and news headlines, Twitter feeds and Facebook posts capture this day in and day out. The negative headlines sometimes feel relentless and can be presented without balance, appropriate context or a good follow-up. It can make us feel like the sky falling at every turn and that perhaps, it’s best if we just stay in bed with our heads under our pillows! So that’s why I started seeking out positive news stories about people who were doing small, or sometimes large, things to make a positive impact on those around them, people who still believe humans are inherently good and deserving of love and kindness. I call it my DAILY LIFT. I will regularly share heartwarming stories from around the world that will hopefully provide some balance in your news feed and remind you, like they remind me, that we’re all in this thing called life together and the better we take care of one another, the better off we all are.
Finally, I’m asking a favour of you: I want to hear about people in your life who are lifting up those around them. It can be a teacher, a parent, a coach, a friend, a child, a teenager, a business owner or anyone who is making a positive impact on their world and those in it. You can write to me in the various Comments sections around my site or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org I look forward to reading these!
